The Harding Township School 6th-8th grade teachers have unanimously nominated Shea Byam for the Matthew C. Sellitto Award. Shea is recognized for her outstanding academic performance throughout middle school, her dedicated commitment to school athletics, and her leadership and demonstrated citizenship in both the Harding Township School and the greater Harding community.

Shea has shown her strong leadership abilities both as Captain of the HTS girls’ lacrosse team for the last two years and as Co-President of the HTS Student Council. In addition, she also has been active in the HTS Climate and Culture Club and the Project Aware Club. She is a talented singer and actress; active in both Chorus and the Select Advanced Chorus. She performed lead roles in the HTS Middle School plays Shrek and Bye Bye Birdie, and she was chosen to play Hermia in the 8th Grade Shakespeare performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

In the Harding community, Shea is active in Girl Scouts, the Grace Church Choir, Ski Club and dance lessons. Her passion for volunteering is evident in her work as a volunteer teacher at the Madison School of Performing Arts and as both a church camp counselor and a HTRA Summer Camp CIT. Shea demonstrates the dedication to school and community that epitomizes the character of Matthew C. Sellitto, and whose example serves to continually inspire our students at Harding Township Middle School.
